Reno, Nev. The Nevada football team’s defense had the upper hand again on Saturday as the Wolf Pack conducted its second controlled scrimmage of the spring session.
The defense recorded four interceptions and had two fumble recoveries during the scrimmage. Two of the interceptions were run back for touchdowns a 90-yard return by cornerback Paul Pratt and an 85-yard return by linebacker Joshua Mauga.
The offense moved the ball well at times and got into scoring position on multiple drive, but turnovers were costly. The lone offensive touchdown on the day was a 1-yard plunge by running back Kevin Grimes.
Luke Lippincott had a strong day in the backfield, rushing 17 times for 72 yards. Quarterback Nick Graziano was 5-of-15 for 96 yards with one interception. Freshman receiver Chris Wellington had a 43-yard reception and junior Marko Mitchell had a 33-yard catch.
The Wolf Pack will practice twice this week before the annual spring game on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mackay Stadium.
