Nevada Quotes

Senior guard Marcelus Kemp on his second half:

“I was just taking better shots, taking what the defense gave me.”

Kemp on Nevada’s three-point defense:

“They were making tough shots. We were contesting all of the, but they were just making tough shots.”

Sophomore Brandon Fields on Nevada in the second half:

“Marcelus was hitting every shot and that was energizing our team.”

Sophomore JaVale McGee on Colorado State:

“They were a good team. They came back. We just had to play hard defense and spread it out.”

Nevada Head Coach Mark Fox on the play of senior Marcelus Kemp:

“Marcelus played as mature as he has since he’s been here. He was patient and let the game come to him. He made his team a lot better tonight being as mature as he was.”

Fox on Colorado State:

“Give Colorado State credit. They shot the ball very well. Their three-point shooting kept it close. Give them credit for making tough shots. We gave them some open ones, but they certainly were a persistent group. Give them credit for that.”

Fox on the effect of playing during finals week:

“I felt like we were fatigued. I don’t know if it was mental or physical. I tried to play lots of guys, and lots of guys factored in the win.”

Fox on the anticipated return of junior guard Lyndale Burleson Saturday:

“It’s been a difficult 10 games for Lyndale. He has handled the whole situation better than I would have. He is excited to come out and play and sees where he can help our team.”

Colorado State Quotes

Colorado State forward Andre McFarland on his performance and playing in home state:

“I’ve got a little bit of family here and I came here to relax during the game. Coach [Tim Miles] told me to relax and I did.”

Colorado State head coach Tim Miles on Andre McFarland:

“Andre really stepped up and played really well. [The freshmen] are really young guys finding their game.”

Miles on team’s performance:

“I thought our kids did a good job getting into the paint. We need a total team effort, but we’re not going to let the scoreboard let us down.”

Miles on guard Jesse Woodard:

“We got to figure out a way to get him about 15 shots, that’s the number he should be at cause he can score for us.”

Miles on team’s three-point shooting::

“Three-point shooting can catch you. Some shoot and the others think they can do it too. To be honest, eleven for 22 is a phenomenal shooting night for us.”

Miles on Nevada guard Marcelus Kemp:

“He can make tough shots. He made a 30 footer tonight. When you’ve got a playmaking guard like that with the athleticism on the side, that’s a nice mix.”

Miles on the performance of his freshmen:

“Most times we have three true freshmen on the floor. Those young guys are finding their game.”
