Nevada Post-Game Notes vs. San Jose State, 11/24/07

The 64-yard pass play between Colin Kaepernick and Marko Mitchell in the first quarter matches the career-long pass for Kaepernick and the career-long reception for Mitchell. The pair hooked up for a 64-yard scoring play at New Mexico State earlier this month.

Nevada now has 22 offensive scoring plays of 25 yards or longer this season, the second-best total in the nation behind Oklahoma (25).

Mitchell’s two-touchdown performance was the first multi-touchdown game of his career.

Mitchell topped 100 yards in receiving for the fourth time this season.

Junior kicker Brett Jaekle booted a 36-yard field goal in the first half and has now made a field goal in all 11 games this season and 12 straight games dating back to the 2006 MPC Computers Bowl.

Sophomore running back Brandon Fragger scored is second rushing touchdown (and third TD overall) with a 9-yard run in the second quarter. His first rushing touchdown of the year came at Northwestern.

Kevin Basped has recorded a tackle for loss in six straight games for Nevada.

Luke Lippincott had his streak of 100-yard games snapped at five straight.

Nevada has never been shutout as a member of Football Bowl Subdivision (Division I-A) and has not been shutout since Sept. 27, 1980, a streak of 328 games that is the longest in the nation and the second-longest all-time in college football. The last time Nevada was blanked was at Weber State, a 10-0 loss. That is the only shutout loss ever suffered by Hall of Fame coach Chris Ault. During the streak, Nevada has shutout eight opponents, the last being a 42-0 win over Louisiana Tech last year in Ruston, La.

San Jose State won the toss and elected to receive. Nevada defended the south goal.
