About This Game
Nevada is coming off a 74-68 road victory over Eastern Washington Thursday night, its first road victory over the Eagles in program history. While Gonzaga holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series, two of the games were played in the 1980s and 1990s. The Pack has never faced the Bulldogs in Spokane, Wash. Nevada is 0-1 against Gonzaga under head coach Kim Gervasoni, falling to the Bulldogs, 68-49, in the opening round of the Wells Fargo Classic at Arizona State University on December 3, 2004.
About the Nevada Wolf Pack
Nevada improved to 2-1 this season after posting a road win at Eastern Washington Thursday night. Dellena Criner (22 points, seven rebounds) and Shavon Moore (14 points, seven rebounds) each scored in double figures as Nevada overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to pickup its second win of the season. The Pack recorded a 1-1 record last weekend, beating Santa Clara, 62-51, before falling to San Diego State, 67-61, on Nov. 11. Mikail Price scored a career-high 22 points for the Pack while Shavon Moore added 10 for Nevada against Santa Clara while Cherlanda Franklin scored a team-high 12 points for Nevada and added a team-high seven boards against San Diego State. The Pack won its only exhibition game of the season on Nov. 3, posting a 68-40 win over Sonoma State in Reno. Dellena Criner (18 points) and Johnna Ward (10 points) each scored in double figures for Nevada. The Pack is coached by Kim Gervasoni who is in her fifth season with Nevada and has a 43-81 overall record with the Pack.
About the Gonzaga Bulldogs
Gonzaga is 1-0 this season, beating Washington 91-72 in Spokane, Wash. on Nov. 12. The Bulldogs played on exhibition game this season, beating Corban College 103-37 on Nov. 5 in Spokane, Wash. The Bulldogs received five votes in this week’s USA Today/ESPN Division I Top 25 Coaches' Poll. Gonzaga finished the 2006-07 season 24-10 overall (13-1 in the WCC), won the West Coast Conference Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, falling in the first round to Middle Tennessee State. The Bulldogs return seven letterwinners and three starters from last season’s team. Gonzaga is coached by Kelly Graves who is in her seventh season at Gonzaga. Coach Graves has a 121-93 overall record with Gonzaga.

Sophomore transfer Megan Cherry made her collegiate debut for Nevada in the Pack's win at Eastern Washington on Thursday night...Nevada picked up its first-ever road win over Eastern Washington with a 74-68 win in Cheney, Wash., Thursday night...with the win, Nevada improved to 2-3 all-time in road openers under head coach Kim Gervasoni...Marianne Lombardi made her first start of the season against the Eagles...Coty Feest tied her career high, scoring eight points in Nevada’s win...freshman Nicole Williams scored her first career points for Nevada, recording four Thursday night...the Pack has scored at least 60 points in each of its first three games this season...Nevada has had a different top scorer in each of its first three games this season (Mikail Price scored 22 points against Santa Clara, Cherlanda Franklin scored 12 versus San Diego State and Dellena Criner scored 22 at Eastern Washington).
Career Highs
Senior Mikail Price came off the bench to score a career-high 22 points in Nevada’s 62-51 win over Santa Clara. Prior to this game, Price’s career high was 14 points against Cal Poly on Nov. 11, 2006. Senior Coty Feest came off the bench in the Pack’s game at Eastern Washington and scored eight points which tied her career high. She also recorded eight points at Colorado on Nov. 24, 2006.
Double Digit Scoring
Through the first three games of the season, four Nevada players have recorded a double-digit scoring game. Mikail Price (22 points) and Shavon Moore (10 points) against Santa Clara, Cherlanda Franklin 12 points versus San Diego State and Dellena Criner (22 points) and Moore (14 points) versus Eastern Washington have each recorded at least one double-digit scoring game. Nevada also has three players averaging at least 10 points per game, Price (12.3), Criner (12.0) and Moore (10.0).

Thursday at Eastern Washington
Dellena Criner and Shavon Moore each scored in double-figures as the University of Nevada women’s basketball team overcame a seven point halftime deficit to post a 74-68 win over Eastern Washington Thursday night at Reese Court. The Eagles, who led by as many as seven in the first half, held the Pack to a 7-for-38 (18.4 percent) shooting performance in the first half. Eastern Washington shot 47.6 percent (10-for-21) from the field in the first half. Eastern Washington went on a 5-1 run to open the second half and led by 10 before Nevada battled back and cut the lead to 37-35 with 14:15 left in the second half. With 6:46 remaining the Eagles cut the lead to 57-53 on a pair of free throws from Katy Baker and pulled to within two, 57-55, with 5:32 remaining. Criner scored on a layup and hit the foul shot with 5:12 left to put Nevada up by five, 60-55. Criner finished with a game-high 22 points while Moore added 14 off the bench.
2008-09 Signees
Nevada received signed National Letters of Intent from Amanda Johnson, a 5-6 guard from El Camino High School in Oceanside, Calif., Brittany Woodard, a four-year varsity team member from Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, Calif., and Kayla Williams, a four-year varsity starter from Reed High School in Sparks, Nev. Amanda Johnson is a four-year varsity player and has been the starting point guard at El Camino High School in Oceanside, Calif., since her freshman season. She led her high school team in scoring her sophomore and junior seasons and was named All-Avocado League MVP in 2005. As a junior in 2006-07, Johnson averaged 15.1 points per game, 5.2 assists per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.8 steals per game. Brittany Woodard is a four-year varsity player from Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, Calif. She is a three-time Sierra Valley Conference All-League selection and is a two-time Sierra Valley Conference MVP. Kayla Williams is the third member of the Pack’s incoming class for next fall. She is a four-year varsity starter at Reed High School in Sparks, Nev. and plays club for Jam On It Basketball Academy. She is a three-time All-League Honoree, a second-team selection as a freshman and a first-team selection as a sophomore and junior.
Nevada in Season Openers Under Gervasoni
Nevada improved to 3-2 in season openers under head coach Kim Gervasoni with Nevada’s win over Santa Clara Friday night. The Pack fell at San Diego 96-74 in its season opener in 2003 before winning its season-opening game against Cal State Fullerton, 71-56, at home in 2004. Portland State edged Nevada, 65-61, in Portland, Ore. in 2005. Nevada won its season opener at home in 2006 against Cal Poly, 76-62 and this season, the Pack beat Santa Clara 62-51 on Nov. 9, 2007.
Newcomers Debut
All five of Nevada’s newcomers have seen minutes for the Pack this season. Shavon Moore, Johnna Ward and Jennifer Gross all saw playing time in Nevada’s season opener versus Santa Clara. Moore started for Nevada and recorded 10 points while Ward played 14 minutes and recorded two steals. Gross scored two points and added three rebounds in 18 minutes. Freshman Nicole Williams made her collegiate debut for Nevada in Nevada’s loss versus San Diego State on Sunday, while Megan Cherry saw her first minutes for Nevada in the Pack’s win over Eastern Washington. All five newcomers on Nevada’s roster this season saw playing time in the Pack’s 68-40 exhibition win over Sonoma State. Ward played 19 minutes and scored 10 points while recording a team-high four steals. Moore scored nine points while playing 12 minutes. Gross scored four points on 2-for-6 from the field in 14 minutes, while Megan Cherry and Williams each played six minutes in the Pack’s exhibition win.
Nevada to Have Three Home Games Televised
After playing in its first nationally-televised game last season, the Pack will play in three televised contests this season. KAME will broadcast the final game of the Nugget Classic on Dec. 2 and will also televise the Nevada/New Mexico State game on January 26. Both games will be shown on a tape-delay basis with the Nugget Classic Championship game being shown at 7 p.m. PT and the New Mexico State game being aired at 8 p.m. PT. CSTV will broadcast the Nevada/Hawaii game from Reno on January 12.
A Look Back
The University of Nevada women's basketball team enjoyed a very successful 2006-07 season in which the team posted a 17-15 overall record and advanced to post-season play for the first-time in school history. Nevada also finished with its highest ever win total in WAC play (10-6), including its first-ever win over La Tech. Nevada started the season 3-0, its best start in 25 years and had three players earn All-WAC honors at the end of the season. Dellena Criner was named to the All-WAC First Team, the All-WAC Defensive Team and to the WAC All-Tournament team while Traci Graham was named to the All-WAC Second Team. Marianne Lombardi was named to the All-Freshman Team marking the third consecutive season Nevada had a freshman named to the All-Freshman Team.
Nevada Picked Second, Third in WAC Preseason Polls
The University of Nevada women’s basketball team has been picked to finish second in the WAC Preseason Coaches Poll and third in the Media Poll. Nevada, who received one first-place vote in each poll, also had two players named to the Preseason All-WAC Teams. Junior guard Dellena Criner was named to the First Team while junior guard Brandi Fitzgerald was named to the Second Team. Criner was also named to the Preseason All-WAC Media team.
Upcoming Schedule
Nevada will play in the UTEP Thanksgiving Tournament in El Paso, Texas on Nov. 23 and 24. The Pack will face Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 23 and will take on either CS Fullerton or tournament host UTEP on Nov. 24.
