CHENEY, Wash. - Dellena Criner and Shavon Moore each scored in double-figures as the University of Nevada women’s basketball team overcame a seven point halftime deficit to post a 74-68 win over Eastern Washington Thursday night at Reese Court. 

 

With the win, Nevada improves to 2-1 this season, while Eastern Washington falls to 1-1. 

 

Eastern Washington jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Mikail Price's three-point play cut the Eagles’ early lead to 5-3 with 15:22 left in the first half.  Shavon Moore's layup brought Nevada to within one, 8-7, with 11:59 left in the first half.

 

With 5:20 left in the first half, Coty Feest's free throws again brought Nevada to within two, 20-18.  Feest hit a three to help Nevada pull to within one, 27-26, with 2:59 left, but the Eagles went on a 6-0 run to end the first half and took a 33-26 lead at halftime.

 

The Eagles, who led by as many as seven in the first half, held the Pack to a 7-for-38 (18.4 percent) shooting performance in the first half. Eastern Washington shot 47.6 percent (10-for-21) from the field in the first half. 

 

Eastern Washington went on a 5-1 run to open the second half and led by 10 before Nevada battled back and cut the lead to 37-35 with 14:15 left in the second half. 

 

Moore's free throws tied the game at 37-37 with 13:31 remaining and Criner's free throws gave Nevada its first lead of the game, 39-37 with 13:15 left in the second half.

 

With 6:46 remaining the Eagles cut the lead to 57-53 on a pair of free throws from Katy Baker and pulled to within two, 57-55, with 5:32 remaining. Criner scored on a layup and hit the foul shot with 5:12 left to put Nevada up by five, 60-55.  

 

Criner finished with a game-high 22 points while Moore added 14 off the bench. Criner and Moore each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. 

 

Nevada will play at Gonzaga on Saturday at Noon PT.

* Nevada picked up its first-ever road win over Eastern Washington with a 74-68 win in Cheney, Wash. Thursday night. 

* With the win, Nevada improved to 2-3 all-time in road openers under Gervasoni.

* Sophomore Marianne Lombardi made her first start of the season. 

* Megan Cherry made her collegiate debut for Nevada.

*Coty Feest tied her career high, scoring eight points.
