2007-08 Schedule

RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada women’s basketball team’s 2007-08 schedule will feature 15 regular-season home games in addition to facing five teams that advanced to post-season play last season.  UC Riverside, Gonzaga, Boise State, and Idaho State all competed in the 2007 NCAA Tournament while Stephen F. Austin played in the WNIT. 

 

Nevada’s 2007-08 schedule will feature 14 non-conference games and a total of 16 Western Athletic Conference games.  In addition, the Pack will face two first-time opponents this season, Southern and Stephen F. Austin.  Nevada will have the opportunity to take on UCLA, another first-time opponent, at the John Ascuaga's Nugget Classic.  

 

“I am excited about our preseason, non-conference games.  We have the opportunity to play high caliber teams, both at home and on the road, which will prepare us for our conference schedule,” said head coach Kim Gervasoni who is entering her fifth year with Nevada.”  We will be tested early and often, which will help us prepare to compete for a WAC Championship.”

 

Nevada will open the season with an exhibition match on Nov. 3 against Sonoma State.  The Pack opens the regular season the next weekend hosting Santa Clara on Nov. 9 and San Diego State on Nov 11. 

 

Nevada will travel to the state of Washington for a pair of games against Eastern Washington on Nov. 15 followed by a game at Gonzaga on Nov. 17.  The Pack will then head to El Paso, Texas for the UTEP Thanksgiving Tournament, Nov. 23 and 24.  The Wolf Pack will face Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 23 and will take on either tournament host UTEP or CS Fullerton on Nov. 24.

 

Nevada will return to Lawlor Events Center to host the John Ascuaga's Nugget Classic, Dec. 1 and 2.  The Pack will take on Southern on Dec. 1 followed by either UCLA or Idaho State on Dec. 2.  The Pack will then travel to California for a Dec. 7 game at UC Irvine and a Dec. 9 match up at UC Riverside.

 

The Pack will host CS Fullerton, UNLV and San Francisco in its longest home stand of the 2007-08 season.  Nevada will open its three-game home stand, facing CS Fullerton on Dec. 16.  The Pack will host intra-state rival UNLV on Dec. 28 followed by San Francisco on Dec. 30.

 

Nevada will face Utah Valley in Orem, Utah on Jan. 2 before opening WAC play at home, hosting San Jose State on Jan. 10 and Hawai`i on Jan. 12.  The Pack will play its first WAC road games of the season in Idaho, facing Idaho on Jan. 17 followed by a Jan. 19 match up at 2006-07 WAC Tournament Champion Boise State.

 

Nevada will host La Tech (Jan. 24) and New Mexico State (Jan. 26) before traveling to Fresno, Calif. for a game at Fresno State on Jan. 31.  The Pack will host Utah State on Feb. 2 before traveling to San Jose State on Feb. 7 and Hawai`i Feb. 9. 

 

The Pack will then host Boise State on Feb. 14 and Idaho on Feb. 16 before beginning a three-game road trip.  The Pack’s three-game road trip includes a Feb. 21 game at Utah State, a Feb. 28 game at New Mexico and a March 1 contest at La Tech. The Pack will close out the regular season hosting Fresno State on March 8. 

 

All nine teams in the WAC will meet in Las Cruces, N.M., March 11-15 for the 2008 WAC Basketball Tournament.  The winner of the WAC Tournament receives the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
