RENO, Nev. Nearly 50 high school, middle school and youth boy’s and girl’s basketball coaches attended a free coaching clinic Saturday held by the Nevada women’s basketball coaching staff.
Coaches from Carson, Elko and the Reno-Sparks area participated in the two-hour clinic in which the Nevada coaching staff of head coach Kim Gervasoni and assistants Amanda Levens, Jackie Moore and Darrly Smith, presented the coaches with a variety of drills.
“The clinic was a great opportunity for us to meet other coaches in the community and share ideas,” Nevada head coach Kim Gervasoni said. “Hopefully the coaches learned something new and will bring their teams back to some games this season. We had a great turnout and look forward to doing it again this spring.”
The participating coaches got a chance to meet the women’s basketball team and watch the Pack’s practice after the clinic.
Below are quotes from coaches who attended the clinic:
“The UNR Coaches' Clinic this past Saturday was very beneficial. It opened my mind to implementing an aggressive defense and promoting full court on-ball pressure. As the JV Lady Senator Basketball Coach for Carson High School, thank you for the opportunity. Thanks!”
