Reno, Nev. - The 2006 University of Nevada volleyball recruiting class has been ranked 23rd by PrepVolleyball.com. Penn State had the number one recruiting class while fellow Western Athletic Conference school Hawai`i had the 19th ranked class.
Four members of the 2006 Wolf Pack recruiting class were recognized by the website for being key cogs in the number 23 ranking: Sage Aune, 6-2 MB, Brighton (Salt Lake City UT); Lelani Kleman-Maeva, 5-11 OH, Aiea (HI); Sonnie Sei, 5-10 S, Loyalton (CA); and Jorgan Staker, 6-1 RS, Taylorsville (UT).
Comments from VolleyballPrep.com: "What a class for the Wolf Pack, which returns all but one regular from last year's NCAA tournament team! Aune is a beast in the middle with the height, ability and motor to start right away. Staker is an outstanding virtually unknown lefty with power and terrific blocking ability. Kleman-Maeva, if she gets to the Reno campus, has the ball control and offense to see court time early in the season. And Sei is a vastly underrated setter who should be a three-year starter after sitting one year behind senior Tristin Johnson. "
"I am very pleased with our 2006 recruiting class," said Nevada head coach Devin Scruggs. "I believe that this is one of the strongest classes we have brought in as a whole since 1998. We have talented volleyball players coming in who are also exceptional athletes. They all come from strong successful club programs which have had a strong history of success."
