FRESNO, Calif. - Nevada couldn't complete a sweep of second-place Fresno State as the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half, winning 73-48 during Senior Day here Saturday afternoon.
The Pack (12-16, 8-8 WAC), who had upset the Bulldogs 68-67 in Reno last month, had 23 turnovers and again did not shoot well, hitting just .305 from the field to .448 for Fresno State. The Bulldogs also held a 48-32 edge in rebounds, including 17 offensive boards.
Fresno State outscored Nevada 41-19 in the second half and held a 27-point lead late in the game, 73-46.
The Bulldogs (22-6, 14-2 WAC) will be the No. 2 seed at next week's tournament in Reno while Nevada will be the No. 4 or 5 seed and play San Jose State at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 8.
The Pack had a four-point lead in the first half but let the Bulldogs come back to take their largest first half lead just before the intermission, 32-29. Fresno State senior Amy Swearingen scored 14 points, nearly half the Bulldogs' total before the intermission. The lead changed hands four times and there were two ties, at two and again at 29.
Leading Nevada were Cherlanda Franklin with 31 points and Traci Graham added 12 markers. Parrish finished with a double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds while teammates Chantella Perera had 16 markers and Tierre Wilson chipped in with 14 points.
The WAC Tournament begins Tuesday night with the play-in game between the eight and nine-seeds, Idaho (8) and Utah State (9) at 6 p.m.
