Reno, Nev. - University of Nevada senior libero Christine Harms has been awarded a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship to continue her education at a school of her choice. The Placerville, Calif., native carries a 4.00 grade point average in Civil Engineering and just completed her senior year for the Wolf Pack volleyball team in 2005. A year ago, Nevada skier Jesse Carlstrom also received a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Harms was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Volleyball Second-Team following her senior campaign. She was named to the first-team District VIII squad each of the last two seasons, and was a second-team selection as a sophomore.
Her senior year she set a school record with 473 digs, and her career mark of 1,423 ranks second all-time at Nevada. In four seasons, she totaled 732.5 points, which is the fourth best total in school history. During her career she played in 124 of a possible 125 matches. At Louisiana Tech, she established a career-high with 28 digs, which is tied for the fourth-best match at Nevada.
As a senior she led the Pack in digs averaging 3.94 per game, which ranked fourth in the WAC. She led the team in digs in 27 of 31 matches this year and 17 were match highs. In the 31 matches played this season, she reached double figures in digs 28 times.
