NEVADA FOOTBALL INKS THREE MID-YEAR TRANSFERS

Reno, Nev. Three junior college standouts signed National Letters of Intent to play football at the University of Nevada next fall, head coach Chris Ault announced Wednesday.

All three of the players will enroll in January and will be eligible for spring football. The players are: Clayton Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman from Gavilan College in Gilroy, Calif.; Brent Kaester, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound tight end from College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif.; and Shawn Miller, a 6-foot-6 offensive lineman from Fullerton (Calif.) College. Miller has three years of eligibility remaining.

“This is a strong class and one that we feel will be able to contribute immediately, especially on our offensive front,” Ault said. “Clayton was a JC Gridwire All-American. We feel his work ethic and competitive nature will fit well with the demands we put on our offensive lineman. Shawn is only a freshman with a big upside. He is an excellent athlete who can play guard or tackle.”

Kaester is a highly-touted prosect who was ranked among the top 50 juco recruits in the country this year.

“Brent is one of the top JC tight ends in the country,” Ault said. “He could have gone anywhere. We expect him to be competitive from the get-go.”
