Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan, Nevada defensive end J.J. Milan and San Jose State running back Patrick Perry were named the Western Athletic Conference offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.

Brennan, a junior from Irvine, Calif. (Saddleback CC), completed 18-of-28 passes for 413 yards and six touchdowns in Hawaii’s 63-10 win at Utah State.  He also had one carry for 12 yards while playing in just three quarters of the game.  He did throw an interception, snapping his school-record streak of consecutive pass attempts without a pick at 182.  Brennan now has 39 touchdowns passes on the season, breaking the school record of 38 set by Timmy Chang in 2004.  He needs 15 to tie the NCAA record of 54 set by Houston’s David Klingler in 1990.

Milan, a senior from Reno, Nev. (Wooster HS), made four tackles, including two sacks for a loss of 14 yards, in the 45-7 win at Idaho.  On one of his sacks, he forced a fumble that he also recovered, setting up a touchdown that gave Nevada a 28-0 lead in the first half.  Milan helped hold Idaho to just 209 yards of total offense, 22 in the first half.

Perry, a sophomore from Los Angeles, Calif. (Banning HS), had San Jose State’s first punt block of the season in the Spartans’ 31-21 win at New Mexico State.  The block was picked up by his teammate, Jeff Clark, and returned two yards for the go-ahead touchdown giving the Spartans a 25-21 lead early in the fourth quarter.  The win snapped San Jose State’s 15-game road losing streak.

Others nominated on offense: senior quarterback Jared Zabransky, Boise State; junior quarterback Zac Champion, Louisiana Tech; senior quarterback Jeff Rowe, Nevada; junior tight end Nick Cleaver, New Mexico State; and junior tailback Yonus Davis, San Jose State.
