Nevada Game Notes vs. Louisiana Tech
Nevada has now won five straight games and is 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the WAC.
Nevada recorded its second straight shutout. The last time Nevada had more than one shutout in season was 1978 when Nevada posted four shutouts. The last time Nevada has back-to-back shutout was 1977 when the Pack blanked Sacramento State and Western Montana.
Sophomore Luke Lippincott made his second career start at running back and rushed for 122 yards on 18 carries with three touchdowns. Lippincott has three straight games with at least two touchdowns.
Senior defensive end J.J. Milan upped is WAC-leading sack total to 9.5 with a fourth-quarter sack of La. Tech quarterback Zac Champion.
Senior running back Robert Hubbard rushed for two scores, marking his first touchdowns away from Mackay Stadium this year.
Sophomore De’Angelo Wilson’s first-quarter punt return of 69 yards was a career-best and the second-longest punt return in the WAC this year. San Jose State’s James Jones had a 70-yarder against Cal Poly. Wilson’s return was the longest by a Nevada player in at least five years (complete historical records not immediately available). He later added a 45-yard return.
Senior quarterback Jeff Rowe threw an interception in the second quarter, ending his streak of consecutive passes without a pick at 59 attempts. He had not thrown a pick since the New Mexico State. Previously this season, Rowe had a stretch of 54 straight attempts without an interception
The Nevada defense did not yield a Louisiana Tech first down until the 10:51 mark in the second quarter.
Nevada won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
Nevada will return home for next week’s regular-season finale against Boise State. The Wolf Pack has a 10-game home winning streak, which is tied for sixth for longest in the nation. It is Nevada’s longest home-winning streak since an 11-game stretch from 1995-1997
