San Jose State running back Yonus Davis, Nevada outside linebacker Ezra Butler and Hawaii kick returner Ross Dickerson were named the Western Athletic Conference offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.

Davis, a junior from Oakland, Calif. (Skyline HS), rushed for a career-high 199 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns in San Jose State’s 44-10 win over Louisiana Tech.  Davis scored on runs of 7 and 90 yards in the first half.  The 90-yard run was the third longest in school history and second longest run by any Division IA player this season.  San Jose State rushed for 476 yards in the game, the highest total by any team in the nation this year.

Butler, a junior from Calabasas, Calif. (Calabasas HS), made five tackles, including 2.5 for a loss of 10 yards, in Nevada’s 48-21 win over New Mexico State.  Butler had 1.5 sacks in the game, helping to hold the nation’s top passing offense to just 278 yards and a touchdown.

Dickerson, a senior from Waipahu, Oahu (St. Louis School), returned the opening kickoff against Idaho 100 yards for a touchdown in Hawaii’s 68-10 win.  It was Hawaii’s first kickoff return for a touchdown since Dickerson had a 100-yard return against Appalachian State on Aug. 30, 2003.

Also nominated on defense: senior linebacker Quin Harris, Louisiana Tech; and sophomore defensive end Jarron Gilbert, San Jose State.
