RENO, Nev. - Nevada scored their third-most points and held Utah Valley State to under 60 as they picked up their fourth win of the season here Thursday night at Lawlor Events Center, 74-59.
They forced UVSC into 25 turnovers and had 13 steals while out rebounding them 42-38. Nevada also out shot the Wolverines from the field, 42 percent to 34 percent, and in three-pointers, hitting four of 10 to UVSC's one of 11.
Nevada took a 10-point halftime lead, 38-28, but UVSC made a run to come within two, 40-38, at the 16:54 mark. That would be as close as they would get, however. Nevada led by as many as 17, 74-57, with 1:10 left.
Nevada (4-12, 0-4 WAC) was paced by three players in double-figures, including Sabrina Keys and Dellena Criner with 14 each, and Brandi Fitzgerald with 13. Criner led the team with six rebounds while Traci Graham added eight points and a season-high five steals.
Sandy Marvin had 13 for the Wolverines (7-11), their lone scorer in double-digits.
Nevada continues WAC play when they host Utah State (1-13, 0-4 WAC) Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Lawlor Events Center.
