Reno, Nev. - The University of Nevada(2-5) snapped a season high three-game losing skid by downing Columbia(0-3) 3-0 in its final match of the Sacramento State Invitational in Sacramento, Calif. Saturday night. The Wolf Pack won easily by scores of 30-13, 30-22, and 30-22 to improve to 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in the tournament while the Lions fell to 0-3 in their first action of the year.

With game one tied at 10-10 Nevada junior Carly Sorensen served the next 12 points and the Pack led 22-10. The Wolf Pack closed the first game with an 8-2 run to win easily 30-13. Nevada hit an amazing .545 in the game and held Columbia to a negative .103 attack percentage.

Game two was much closer and was tied 11 times before the Pack prevailed 30-22. The last tie came at 11-11 but a mini 3-0 run was all Nevada would need to take the lead for good on the way to the victory and a two games to none advantage heading into the break. The Pack again hit well at .469 while the Lions also hit well at .324.

The Lions scored the first two points of game three but the Wolf Pack wasted little time catching them using an 11-2 run to take control of the game. Nevada never trailed the rest of the game in winning 30-22 to sweep the match in three short games. The Wolf Pack hit .382 and Columbia .147 in the final game.

Teal Ericson had a match high 15 kills to lead the team and was followed closely by Salaia Salave`a's 13. Carly Sorensen finished with nine kills marking the first time this season she failed to reach double figures. Setter Ashley Miller dished out 42 assist on the night. Libero Christine Harms had a match high 10 digs.

 
 

Natalie Gerling led Columbia with 10 kills in the match. Setter Shannon Hunzicker had 25 assists.

The Pack hit a season high .455 in the match while the Lions hit .134. The Pack won the blocking battle 10-1 with sophomore Karly Sipherd posting a match high six.

The Wolf Pack return to action next weekend hosting the Circus Circus/Molten Invitational at the Virginia Street Gym. Friday the Pack take on 24th ranked Cal at 7:00 p.m. Saturday Nevada plays Akron at 10:00 a.m. and Montana State at 5:00 p.m.
