WEST CHICAGO, Ill. - Nichiren Flowers (Sr., Tulare, Calif.) was named to the third team Pre-season All-America list by CollegeSportsReport.com on Monday. Flowers had his most productive season in 2004 with 91 catches for 1,126 yards and six touchdowns. He ranked second in the WAC last season behind Chad Owens (Hawai'i). Flowers comes in to the 2005 season as the top receiver in the WAC.
The 2005 CollegeSportsReport.com Pre-season All-America team includes103 players representing 71 teams. Southern California and Texas led with four honorees each (Southern Cal had three players as Reggie Bush was named second team running back and fourth team punt return specialist).
The WAC had four players earn All-American honors, including Flowers. The others were first team choice Daryn Colledge (OL, Boise State), third team selection Aaron Lips (OL, Louisiana Tech), and fourth team honoree Kyle Young (C, Fresno State).
