Final Stats

RENO, Nev. - Freshman guard Brandi Fitzgerald showed her versatility in leading the Pack in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks as Nevada upended Sacramento State, 63-52, here at Lawlor Events Center Saturday night.

With the win, Nevada improved to 2-7 while Sacramento State fell to 3-4. It will be Nevada's last game until a non-conference road game at Northern Arizona December 28.

Fitzgerald, from Moreno Valley, Calif., was six for 13 from the field, including one of three on three pointers, grabbed six rebounds, added four each assists and steals, and contributed two blocks to lead the Pack. Meghan McGuire had 11 points and Jessica Preslar 10 to give Nevada three players in double-figures. Kim Sheehy had 12 markers and Ashley Cadotte 11 points to pace Sacramento State.

Nevada held just a two-point edge at halftime, 34-32, and it remained a one possession game until Nevada used a 10-0 run in an eight-minute stretch midway through the second stanza to go up 55-44 at the 5:59 mark after holding just a one-point edge, 45-44, with 13:58 remaining in the game. Nevada would stretch that lead to 14 points, 61-49, with 2:14 remaining.

Turnovers were still a problem for Nevada - the Pack committed 23 -- but they were an even bigger sore spot for the Hornets, who committed 28. Nevada had 17 steals to 13 for Sacramento State but lost the rebound battle, 41-36. Nevada did outshoot the Hornets, 46 percent to 32 percent, from the field.
