BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Sophomore Marcelus Kemp scored a career-high 24 points as No. 22 Nevada beat Vermont 77-62 on Wednesday night at Patrick Gymnasium.
The victory was the Wolf Pack's 11th straight win on the road and snapped the Catamounts' 14-game home winning streak.
Kemp was 8-of-12 from the field and 7-of-8 from the line for the Wolf Pack, which improved to 2-0 on the year.
Nevada made its first eight shots and led by as many as 11 points in the first half. Despite being limited by illness, junior Nick Fazekas led the team with nine first-half points, while senior Mo Charlo added seven points and seven rebounds to help Nevada to a 35-30 halftime lead.
Vermont cut the lead to three points twice earlier in the second half, but Nevada answered each time with a three-pointer. The Catamounts never got closer than five the rest of the way, and the Wolf Pack led by as many as 17.
Kemp scored 17 of his career-best 24 points in the second half, knocking down 5-of-7 attempts in the final 20 minutes. Fazekas added 20 points in 27 minutes, while Charlo finished with 13 points and a career-best 14 rebounds. Sophomore Ramon Sessions was also limited to just 12 minutes due to illness.
Martin Klimes led Vermont (0-3) with a career-high 24 points, and Mike Trimboli had 19.
Nevada returns to action on Saturday night, traveling to Las Vegas, Nev., to take on in-state rival UNLV. Saturday's game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. Pacific Time at UNLV's Thomas and Mack Center and can be seen locally on the WB (KREN-TV).
