Reno, Nev. - The University of Nevada(17-10) swept UC Davis(4-24) on Senior Night at the Virginia Street Gym in Reno, Nev. Tuesday. The Wolf Pack dominated the match from the start winning by scores of 30-21, 30-21, and 30-16 to improve to 17-10 on the season while UCD fell to 4-24 on the year.
Pack seniors Lindsay Holda, Harms, and Salaia Salave`a were honored prior to the match for their contributions to Nevada volleyball. The durable trio missed only one match each during their four-year careers as all three played in 120 of a possible 121 matches. Harms set a school record in the match as she added 15 digs to her season total giving her 422 digs on the year which surpassed the previous record of 417 digs in a single season set by Suzanne Stonebarger in 2000.
In game one the Pack led by six midway through the game and cruised to the easy 30-21 victory. Nevada had its best hitting game of the match at .452 while the Aggies hit .208.
Nevada won game two by the same 30-21 score as they did the first game to take the two games to none advantage in the match. The Pack scored the first point of the game and never trailed in claiming the victory. The Wolf Pack hit well at .226 but the defense was even more impressive holding the Aggies to a negative .083 attack percentage.
The Pack led game three by a single point at 17-16 but scored the next 13 points to win 30-16 and take the match 3-0. Freshman Allison Hernandez served 12 of the final 13 points of the match. The Pack hit .390 and the defense was again outstanding holding UCD to a negative .049 attack percentage.
Salave`a led the Pack with a match high 18 kills and hit .419. Erika Ryan, and Carly Sorensen contributed eight kills apiece. Setter Tristin Johnson dished out a match high 43 assists on the night. Harms, and Holda led the Pack with 15, and seven digs respectively.
Chantal Paschetta led UCD with six kills while setter Katelyn Astruc totaled 21 assists. Libero Nichole Brown led the Aggies with 12 digs.
The Pack hit .359 in the match and held UCD to zero attack percentage on the night. Nevada also won the blocking battle 8-4. Sophomore Karly Sipherd had a match high five blocks.
Nevada ends the regular season and Western Athletic Conference schedule with a 7:00 p.m. match on Saturday at Utah State in Logan, Utah. The Pack defeated the Aggies 3-1 earlier this season in Reno.
