Reno, Nev. - The University of Nevada(13-9, 7-4 WAC) fell 3-0 to 10th ranked Hawai`i(16-6, 10-0 WAC) in a Western Athletic match that featured the top two teams in the conference on Thursday night at the Virginia Street Gym in Reno, Nev. The Wolf Pack lost by scores of 30-22, 30-22, and 30-27 to the Rainbow Wahine.

With the loss the Pack are currently 7-4 in conference play and 13-9 overall. Tonight's loss dropped the Wolf Pack out of second place, and out of the top two spots in the league standings for the first time this year. UH kept its WAC record perfect at 10-0 and have won 101 consecutive WAC matches. Overall the Rainbow Wahine are 16-6.

UH took control of game one from the start jumping to a five-point lead at 7-2. Nevada closed within two-points at 7-5 but would get no closer as the Rainbow Wahine took game one 30-22. Hawai`i hit .194 in the first game and the Pack hit .103.

Game two started the same way as the first with UH going in front early at 5-1. The Pack were never able to close the gap falling by a score of 30-22 for the second game in a row. The Rainbow Wahine hit an outstanding .410 in the second game and held Nevada to a .111 attack percentage.

The third game was the closest of the three as there were 11 ties and seven lead changes before UH won 30-27. Nevada led 27-24 but Hawai`i scored the final six points of the match to win 30-27. UH hit .308 and the Pack had there worst hitting game of the night at .098.

UH out hit Nevada .307 to .104 in the match and dominated the blocking 12-4.

Freshman Erika Ryan led Nevada with 11 kills while sophomore Teal Ericson totaled 10. Setter Tristin Johnson dished out 34 assists and libero Christine Harms had nine digs to top the team.

 
 

Victoria Prince, and Sarah Mason led Hawai`i with 14, and 12 kills respectively. All-WAC setter Kanoe Kamana`o had a game high 43 assists. Tara Hittle had a match high 11 digs while teammate Ashley Watanabe finished with 10 digs on the night.

Nevada's next match is at New Mexico State a week from today followed by a trip to Louisiana Tech.
