RENO, Nev. – Nevada junior Cody Martin has been named the Bradley, Drendel and Jeanney Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the men’s basketball team to a pair of road wins at Boise State and Utah State. Martin averaged 20.5 points, eight rebounds, 3.5 assists and one steal in 37 minutes.
Martin scored a career-high 30 points in the 93-87 win at USU which is the high for a Wolf Pack player this season. He also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, dished out four assists and had two steals. From the field he shot 72.2 (13-of-18) percent and made 2-of-4 three-pointers in 37 minutes.
In the Pack’s 77-72 victory at Boise State scored 11 points, collected seven rebounds, and had three assists in 37 minutes. In the two games he shot 63 (17-of-27) percent from the field, made 2-of-4 three-pointers and 5-of-7 free throws.
On the season he is averaging 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and is shooting 53.2 percent from the field. He is ranked in the top five in the MW in assists (3.9 apg, 5th), steals (1.6 spg, 2nd), blocks (1.4 bpg, 4th) and minutes played (35.2, 1st). He is also 14th in scoring (13.9 ppg), sixth in assists turnover ratio (1.9 a/tr) and 14th in rebounding (6.3 rpg).
