Sport Administrator For: Football

During her first three years in the Athletics Director’s chair, Stephanie Rempe has already overseen an ambitious and impressive modernization effort at the University of Nevada. From capital projects to student-athlete experience to on-field results, Rempe has brought a new energy to “Nevada’s College Town” since being named Athletic Director on June 21, 2022.

Among her first initiatives to energize and inspire the Wolf Pack base was her mission to declare Reno “Nevada’s College Town.” Determined to see Reno and its surrounding areas packed full of Silver and Blue, in July 2023 Rempe spearheaded the relaunch of “Wolf Pack Fridays” in collaboration with President Brian Sandoval, celebrating each Friday in honor of the University of Nevada to enshrine the city's reputation as "Nevada's College Town."

On campus, that same drive has led to unprecedented enhancements to Nevada Athletics. Every athletic program in the department has been positively impacted by improvements led by Rempe. Within her first months on the job, the Mackay Stadium turf was replaced and the surrounding track was resurfaced, beginning a flurry of facility improvements.

Most recently, landmark achievements in Rempe’s tenure have been partnering with the Grand Sierra Resort in May 2025 in securing funding approval from the Reno City Council and Reno Redevelopment Agency to make the GSR Arena, future home of Nevada Basketball, a reality. A month later (June 2025), Rempe got approval of a long-desired and much-needed indoor fieldhouse from the NSHE Board of Regents. Groundbreaking for the fieldhouse took place August 19, 2025, with completion of the project estimated for summer 2026. Overall, Rempe guided the completion of over $30 million in capital projects by summer 2025.

The Bitonio Family Strength and Conditioning Center was established in April 2023 and construction of the Eric and Linda Lannes Basketball Building commenced in June 2023 and was completed in September 2024. Partnering with the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA), Rempe helped facilitate the acquisition of a world-class indoor track which led to Nevada Track & Field being able to host home meets beginning with the 2024-25 season. Additionally, the Cashell Fieldhouse underwent a major upgrade which included the renovation of the Nevada Football locker room.

The enhancements to the student-athlete experience have been numerous. Beginning with establishing a weekday breakfast in Stadium Club for student athletes, the additions have gone on to include updated locker-room space for the majority of programs including new locker rooms for women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, and women’s golf. Additionally, the building of a fully-staffed Sports Medicine office, the hiring of the first mental health professional for the department, a Director of Student-Athlete Development, and establishing a fully-staffed academic office have provided critical support for Wolf Pack student athletes.

In the classroom, Nevada student athletes have continued to raise the bar over the past three years, culminating with a combined grade-point average of 3.278 and 12 programs with a GPA of at least 3.00 in the Spring 2025 semester. Nevada Women's Golf set the department record for highest term GPA, posting a collective 3.898 with four of the eight team members getting a 4.00 for the semester.

All of which has led to an on-field revitalization for the Wolf Pack. The 2025 spring season brought a pair of conference championships to Nevada’s College Town, as first-year head coach Victoria Hayward led softball to its first Mountain West title and Jake McKinley returned Nevada Baseball to the top with its first title since 2021. Women’s Tennis recorded its highest-ever regular-season Mountain West finish, coming in second just one match back of its first Mountain West title, and Women’s Golf surged to a third-place finish at the Mountain West Championships.

Prior to coming to Nevada, Rempe worked at a senior leadership role at five Division I athletics programs, supervising sports, coaches and department staff. She served as the Chief Operating Officer where all coaches and staff reported directly to her at two of the largest and most successful athletics departments in the country, LSU (2019-22) and Texas A&M (2016-2019).

Rempe has worked with 27 national championship-winning head coaches and 17 top finishers in College Football Playoffs, Final Fours, and College World Series over her career. At both institutions she led and negotiated the contracts for the high-profile hirings of new men's and women's basketball coaches and a new head football coach. She also supervised contract negotiations and hirings of several head coaches. Also during her LSU tenure, LSU athletics received national recognition for its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement, as well as its leading initiatives in developing an equitable and in-compliance framework for the NCAA's Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) Rule. She also played key roles in negotiating media rights and apparel agreements, enhancing collaboration across the Tiger athletic program's many units and in creating new initiatives in fundraising during a highly challenging pandemic era.

At Texas A&M and also serving as the Chief Operating Officer, Rempe was the sport supervisor for the football and men's basketball programs, and was the department's liaison with the 12th Man Foundation, system general counsel and Learfield's multi-media rights relationship. She also played an integral role in the completion of several capital improvement projects, including a new $45 million track and field stadium and $38 million softball stadium.

In addition to her positions at LSU and Texas A&M, Rempe previously served as the Senior Associate Athletics Director at the University of Washington from 2008-16, where she directly supervised several athletics teams, and managed capital projects that included a $285-million renovation of Washington's football stadium, Husky Stadium. Prior to her time at Washington, Rempe was Senior Associate Athletics Director at the University of Oklahoma from 2003-2008, and Associate Athletics Director at UTEP from 1998-2003. She began her professional career at her alma mater, the University of Arizona, as a Senior Program Coordinator from 1995-98.

Rempe was a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats in volleyball. She earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1993 as well as a master's degree in Sports Administration in 1995 from Arizona.

Rempe, who is a member of the Santa Barbara High School Hall of Fame and Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame, has completed multiple marathons including being a two-time finisher of the Boston Marathon, in addition to competing in iron-distance triathlons. She is married to Greg Remien, and they are parents of a daughter, Riley, and a son, Ryan.
