Jordan Getzelman was named Nevada Baseball head coach December 1, 2025. Overall, the 2026 campaign marks his fourth season on staff after serving as the team's hitting coach and recruiting coordinator from 2023-25.
Getzelman takes over a Nevada team which enters 2026 looking to defend its Mountain West regular season title. He and returning coaching staff members associate head coach/pitching coach Mark Moriarty, assistant coach Noah Shackles, and director of pitching development Owen Sharts will oversee a Wolf Pack team which returns all five of its 2025 All-Mountain West selections, including Freshman of the Year and Freshman All-America third baseman Sean Yamaguchi.
Seven of the Pack’s everyday position players from a season ago return in 2026, including All-Mountain West selections Billy Ham, Jayce Dobie, and Jake Harvey, and senior Jackson Waller, who join Yamaguchi in bringing back five of Nevada’s top-six hitters. On the hill, All-Mountain West first-teamer Alessandro Castro leads the way alongside veteran reliever Dominic Desch.
Getzelman's work with the Wolf Pack offense in 2025 played a critical role in Nevada capturing the Mountain West regular season championship. As a team, Nevada batted .296 with 79 home runs, both figures program highs since Getzelman's arrival in 2023. Four of Nevada's All-Mountain West selections in 2025 came from the batting order, with all four (Jayce Dobie, Jake Harvey on the First Team, Sean Yamaguchi and Billy Ham on the Second Team) earning the first all-conference recognition of their respective careers.
The impact of Sean Yamaguchi in 2025 greatly helped the Wolf Pack's success. The Aiea, Hawaii native was named 2025 Mountain West Freshman of the Year and was named to the Freshman All-America Second Team by both the NCBWA and Perfect Game after batting .324 with team-leading figures of 13 homers and 72 hits, along with 13 doubles and 50 RBIs.
Overseeing the Wolf Pack's recruiting efforts, Getzelman has helped land players with immediate impacts on the diamond as seven of Nevada's 11 All-Mountain West honors since 2023 have been claimed by players joining the squad since his arrival. This number includes four selections to the All-Mountain West First Team.
Getzelman's work as hitting coach has led to increased production throughout the Wolf Pack lineup. In 2024, three Nevada batters had at least 10 home runs, led by Holder's 14, while the Wolf Pack hit 142 doubles, with three players, led by Michael Ball with 22, had at least 20. As a whole, the Wolf Pack offense slugged .502 and batted .294 in 2024, well up from figures of .259 and .422 in 2023. Ball and Holder would go on to earn spots on the All-Mountain West Second Team while JR Freethy had his best collegiate season, batting .303 with 18 doubles, 10 homers, and 37 RBIs before being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Prior to his arrival in Reno in 2023, Getzelman served in the same capacities at Middle Tennessee in 2022. He mentored Blue Raider hitters to a team batting average of .275 in 2022, the program’s highest figure since 2018, as Middle Tennessee wrapped the year with a 29-26 record.
He began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Jessup in 2018, from there heading to Dallas Baptist where he served as the Director of Hitting Development and Hitting, Analysis & Operations for two seasons (2018-19). Over his two seasons in Dallas, the Patriots hit .290 and made back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances.
Getzelman then spent two seasons (2020-21) as an assistant hitting coordinator with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Crystal Lake, Illinois native started his collegiate playing career at Missouri where he received a medical redshirt before transferring to Iowa Western Community College in 2015. While in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Getzelman received first-team All-Region and the Reivers went 54-7 and competed in the JUCO World Series.
From there, Getzelman spent the 2016 season at Kennesaw State before playing for McKinley at Menlo College in 2017. At Menlo, Getzelman was named an NAIA All-American, the GSAC Conference Player of the Year and to the All-GSAC First Team when he set school records with 26 home runs and 66 RBIs.
