Lucas will be in his first season with Nevada as an assistant coach in 2025–26 after an impressive playing career that included standout college years, professional experience in the NBA G League, and overseas competition.

Following College, Lucas spent a season with the Dallas Mavericks’ G League affiliate, where he was #1 in the G League in made three-pointers (76), shooting 41.3% from beyond the arc. He later played professionally overseas for Basquet Girona in Spain, continuing to showcase his elite shooting ability.

Lucas enjoyed a remarkable two-year run with Nevada, where he became one of the top guards in the Mountain West. In his fifth year (2023–24), he started all 34 games and averaged 17.8 points per game on 42.1% shooting from the field, 39.4% from three, and 89.9% at the free-throw line. He earned First Team All-Mountain West (media), Second Team All-Mountain West (coaches), and NABC Second Team All-District honors, while being named 2023 Diamond Head Classic MVP. Lucas tied the program record with 34 consecutive free throws made, ranked in the top 10 for made threes in a season (80), and surpassed 2,000 career points during a win over Wyoming.

In his first season with Nevada (2022–23), Lucas averaged 17.0 points, 37.8% from three, and 86.3% from the line, earning Mountain West Newcomer of the Year, All-Mountain West Second Team, and NABC Second Team All-District recognition.

Before his time in Reno, Lucas played three seasons at Oregon State, where he started every game as a junior and averaged 13.5 points per game. He led the Pac-12 in free-throw percentage (.871) and helped the Beavers reach the Elite Eight in the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

A native of Hacienda Heights, California, Lucas starred at Los Altos High School, where he set the Southern California CIF career scoring record with 3,356 points, ranking third in California history. A four-time All-State and All-CIF First Team selection, he averaged 39.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists as a senior and graduated with a 3.94 GPA.
