Sport Administrator For: Football, Men’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Men's & Women's Tennis, Skiing, Cheer

Casey Stangel is the Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Senior Woman Administrator at the University of Nevada, a position she assumed in 2022. In this role, she oversees nine sports programs within the athletic department, actively engaging in various aspects of the department, particularly internal operations and sport supervision. As the designated Senior Woman Administrator, Casey actively serves as a liaison to the Mountain West Conference.

Prior to joining the Nevada athletic department, Stangel held diverse roles at Vanderbilt University, where she most recently served as the Director of Operations for the football program. Notably, she made history as the first female Director of Football Operations in Southeastern Conference (SEC) history. Her achievements were acknowledged in 2021 when she was named to 247Sports’ 30-under-30 list of college football’s rising stars.

Before her tenure with the football program, Stangel worked in the Vanderbilt baseball program as its Baseball Operations Coordinator. She played a vital role on the staff that secured the 2019 national championship, marking a historic season for the Commodores, and the program’s second national championship. The 2019 Commodores etched their names among college baseball's greatest teams. That year, Vanderbilt right-handed pitcher Kumar Rocker struck out 19 batters and tossed the Commodores’ first individual no-hitter since 1971 as part of a 3-0 victory against Duke in the NCAA Nashville Super Regional on June 8 at Hawkins Field. The no-hitter was the first by any player in NCAA Super Regional action. The team set numerous program and national records, leading the nation in hits and home runs, and establishing a new SEC record for wins. Stangel was a part of a historic team that defeated all 13 conference opponents in the same season, a feat unprecedented in Southeastern Conference.

Stangel commenced her professional journey in the office of the Commissioner of Major League Baseball in New York City, where she assisted with on-field operations and pace of play initiatives.

A graduate of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in communications, Stangel was a standout athlete in softball, earning Pac-12 All-Conference honors as an outfielder and pitcher. As a senior captain, she led the Huskies to a third-place finish at the Women’s College World Series. Later, she completed her master’s degree in leadership and organizational performance from Vanderbilt University.

Casey is married to Jordan Getzelman, the Assistant Coach, Hitting Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator for Nevada's baseball team.
