Biography
SENIOR OUTDOOR (2017) – Broke the long jump school record with a leap of 20 feet and 2.25 inches (6.15m) at the Mountain West Championships … Took bronze at the conference meet … Made a total of three moves on the all-time list on her way to the top in her final season … Qualified for the NCAA West Preliminaries but didn’t compete due to injury … Recorded a total of four top five finishes during the season … Competed in eight meets during the year.
SENIOR INDOOR (2016-17) – Placed top 10 in the MW Championships for long jump … Reached third in school history for long jump with a mark of 5.97m (19’7”) at the Boise State Challenge, also marked as her personal best … Had another personal best in the 60m with a time of 7.80 … Took first place in three meets this season … Participated in five meets this season.
JUNIOR OUTDOOR (2016) – Competed in the long jump for the season … Jumped a season’s best 5.34m (17’9.75”) at the Hornet Invite for a fifth place finish … Logged a season’s best second place finish at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational … Competed in six meets during the season.
JUNIOR INDOOR (2015-16) – Competed in five meets … best result came at the Weber State Winter Open with a fifth place finish in the long jump … best mark came at the Mountain West Indoor Championships at 5.56m (18’3”).
JUNIOR COLLEGE – Junior college transfer out of Essex County College in Newark, N.J. … Collected National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honors in the long jump during her time there … Rest of Hield’s repertoire includes sprinting events such as the 100m (12.05 PR), 200m (24.78 PR) and 400m (55.48 PR) … Hails from Grand Cayman in the Bahamas and represented her country at the JR Pan American Championships in the summer of 2015 … Has a personal best of 20’6” (6.25m) in the long jump, which exceeds the current Nevada school record.
PERSONAL – Daughter of Whitman Hield and Kava Wildgoose, grandfather Kevin Wildgoose … Has two brothers, Whitman Jr. and Scott … Intends to major in biology … Lists Allyson Felix as her sports hero … Chose Nevada because it has a great athletic program.
