Andy Dominique

Former major leaguer Andy Dominique completed his seventh year as an assistant coach with the Nevada softball program in 2013. He primarily served as Nevada[apos]s hitting instructor, as he had in the previous six seasons.

He assists with scouting and in-game coaching in addition to other duties and administrative responsibilities.

[quote]Andy is as passionate and knowledgable steward of the game as you will find,[quote] Nevada head coach Matt Meuchel said. [quote]He will continue to prove why he is one of the premier offensive minds in the country. He is such a great teacher and the players respond to his teaching.[quote]

Dominique previously worked with the softball program in 2008 as a volunteer assistant coach. That year, Nevada re-wrote the record book in nearly every hitting category.

Dominique is one of the most decorated baseball players in Nevada history, holding a number of school records including career and single-season home runs. After nearly a decade of playing professional baseball, Dominique returned to Northern Nevada.

After his Wolf Pack career, Dominique was picked by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 26th round of 1997 amateur draft. He was in the Phillies organization until he was traded to the Red Sox in 2002. He made his major league debut as a first baseman and catcher in 2004 as part of Boston historic World Series team. He also played for the Toronto Blue Jays and was part of the New York Mets and Seattle Mariners organizations.

Dominique and his wife Jennifer have a daughter, Cassidy Grace, who was born April 18th, 2009.
