Riccardo Stewart

Riccardo Stewart enters his second season on the Nevada staff in 2021, taking charge of the secondary after serving as defensive analyst in 2020.

Stewart, a three-time All-Pac-10 defensive back at Arizona State, will guide a Pack secondary which had two All-Mountain West selections and nabbed five interceptions a season ago. Secondary members Berdale Robins (one interception, five pass breakups, 27 tackles) and Tyson Williams (team-best two picks, second on the team with 56 tackles) each were named All-Mountain West Honorable Mention, and were part of a Wolf Pack defense which had three thefts in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl victory over Tulane.

Stewart joined the Wolf Pack in 2020 after serving a season as a varsity defensive back and passing game coordinator for Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Ariz.. He was responsible for assisting in coordination of the passing game and evaluating and assessing the talent for his team and opposing teams. In his one season, Brophy College Prep went 8-2 on the year and made a state playoff appearance. Stewart has also served as a youth club football coach in Chandler, Ariz. since 2012, working as the head coach and trainer.

From 2005 to 2019, Stewart worked as a personal trainer for defensive backs and wide receivers in the Tempe, Ariz. area. He was responsible for film evaluation and feedback for varsity athletes, flexibility and mobility training, route running and hand placement training, along with ball skills, back peddling, speed and development training. During that time he also served as a character and development coach at his alma mater, Arizona State, for four seasons. Additionally, Stewart was the varsity defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator at Centennial High School in Peoria, Ariz. from 2005 to 2007.

He was a four-year starter (2001-04) for the Sun Devils, being twice-voted a team captain in addition to his three all-conference selections.

Stewart earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Arizona State in 2004 and a master’s degree in global urban leadership from Bakke Graduate University in 2011.
