Reno native Chad Savage enters his first season as the tight ends coach with the Wolf Pack in 2021, beginning his second stint on the Nevada staff after spending the 2018-19 seasons as a graduate assistant.
Â
Savage began his college playing career at Linfield College and then transferred to San Diego where he played wide receiver for one year. After his stint as a wide receiver he began serving in more of a coaching role as the team’s undergraduate offensive assistant, helping with the running backs.
Â
He totaled three years in his first stint at USD in a coaching capacity, also working with the Toreros wide receivers and special teams unit. During his time at USD he assisted in the passing game plan, scouting reports, coordinating the scout teams and worked with on-campus recruiting. The Toreros compiled a 29-7 record during Savage’s first tenure and added two conference championships and two FCS playoff wins.
Â
Savage earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from San Diego in May 2018.
