REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2021) -- Drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 13th round of the 2021 MLB Draft ... Started six games for Nevada before suffering a season-ending injury … Went 2-1 in his shortened redshirt sophomore season and posted an ERA of 5.12 … Tossed 31.2 innings and gave up just 22 hits … Opposing batters hit .208 off of him … Collected 35 strikeouts, which still ranked fifth on the team … Named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week on March 1 after he earned the win at UNLV throwing 6.0 innings and giving up just one run on two hits with seven strikeouts … Threw a season-high six innings three times … Struck out at least four batters in all six of his starts, including a season-best eight at USC on March 13 … Was a preseason All-Mountain West selection.

SOPHOMORE (2020 - Season shortened due to COVID-19) -- Earned the role of Nevada’s Friday starter, leading the team and Mountain West with 32 strikeouts in four games played … Posted a 4.91 ERA, only allowing more than three earned runs once during the season … Only walked seven batters … Tossed six shutout innings at Oregon (2/21) where he only allowed two hits and struck out eight Ducks … Tallied a season-high 11 strikeouts and only one walk in seven innings against Hofstra (2/28) … Did not allow a home run in three of his five games pitched … Struck out at least eight batters in three of his four starts.

FRESHMAN (2019) -- Made 14 starts as Nevada’s Saturday pitcher, tossing 68 innings with 40 strikeouts on his way to a 3-8 record … Finished with a 5.96 ERA … Boasted a 1.44 WHIP … Best start of the season came in his first collegiate game, pitching seven shutout innings at Texas State (2/16) while only allowing three hits … Eight of his starts went at least five innings … Struck out at least three batters in nine of his starts … Opposing batters only hit .243 against him … Lettered for the first time.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Lettered four years in baseball at Simi Valley High School in Simi Valley, Calif. … Was named 2018 League MVP, Ventura county pitcher of the year, Team MVP, CIF Division II first team, Ventura County Hall of Fame athlete of the year … Also received the Honor Medallion and was Scholar Athlete of the year … Was drafted in the 32nd round of the 2018 MLB draft to the Texas Rangers … Won the 2016 and 2018 Costal Canyon League Championship … Tallied up a .333 batting average, with 26 hits, three homeruns, 26 RBI and 21 runs… Also pitched 59 innings with a 1.31 ERA and 92 strikeouts as a senior.

PERSONAL -- Economics major … Son of Stuart and Jennifer Sharts … Enjoys hanging out with friends and family as well as listening to country music, going to the beach, and seeing movies … Chose to play for Nevada because he liked the small town college atmosphere and how Coach Bruce is turning the program in to a national contender … His dad Scott Sharts played baseball for Cal State Northridge and the Cleveland Indians and his Uncle Steve Sharts also played for Cal State Northridge and the Philadelphia Phillies … Career highlights were collecting the record saves at Simi Valley High school in 2016 and winning the league championship in 2016 and 2018 … Sports hero is Derek Jeter.
