Owen Sharts begins his second season on the Nevada Baseball staff in 2026, and first as assistant coach. In 2025, he served as the the program's Director of Pitching Development.
Sharts played at Nevada from 2019-21, helping the Wolf Pack to the 2021 Mountain West title and a trip to the Stanford Regional. He went 2-1 over six starts before suffering a season-ending injury, having given up just 22 hits over 31.2 innings. In the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Sharts was the Pack's Friday starter, striking out 32 batters against just seven walks over four appearances before the season was canceled.
Sharts was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 13th round of the 2021 MLB Draft and played two seasons (2022-23) in the organization's farm system. In 2024, he pitched for the Idaho Falls Chukars of the Pioneer League.
