RS JUNIOR (2022): Appeared in 16 games, making 10 starts ... Had three doubles with six RBIs and six runs scored ... Drove in four runs, going 3-for-6 with two doubles at Grand Canyon (Feb. 19) ... Scored thrice with a double and RBI at Air Force (March 4) ... Was hit by a pitch and drove in a run against Saint Mary's (April 19).

RS SOPHOMORE (2021) -- Made 26 appearances with 25 starts at shortstop in his first season with the Wolf Pack … Batted .256 with 23 hits in his 90 at-bats … Tallied four extra base hits including one home run and three doubles … Collected 15 RBI and scored 14 runs … Had two sacrifice flies, one sacrifice hit and was 1-for-1 on the base paths … Posted a fielding percentage of .941 making 30 putouts and 65 assists … Recorded eight multi-hit games and two multi-RBI games … Had a season-long hitting streak of five games … Made his Nevada debut on Feb. 22 at Cal Poly where he went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI … Posted two three-hit games, going 3-for-3 in two games against San Jose State … Hit his lone home run of the season on March 20 during a win over Fresno State … Letter winner.

PRIOR TO NEVADA -- Spent two seasons at Feather River Junior College before transferring to Nevada … Earned an associate’s degree in kinesiology … Part of a conference championship in 2019 and was a first team all-league selection at shortstop … Preseason All-American in 2020 … In 2019 he hit .342 with 11 doubles, two triples, one homerun, 45 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Graduated from Central High School in Independence, Oregon where he was a three-sport athlete in baseball, basketball and football … Was a three-time first team all-league selection in baseball and received multiple accolades in football and basketball as well … In 2017 in football he led the state of Oregon in passing touchdowns and passing yards.

PERSONAL -- Son of Claudine and Joe Mendazona … Has three siblings, sister Meagan and brothers Joe Jr. and the late Lucas Mendazona … His father, Joe, played college baseball at Texas Tech and his mother, Claudine, played volleyball at Eastern New Mexico … His sister, Meagan, plays basketball at Utah State and his cousin, George Mendazona, played baseball at Oregon State … Kinesiology major who would like to become a physical therapist after college … Chose Nevada because the city, school and baseball program make Reno right where he wants to be and he believes in the coaching staff and what the team is about … Also recruited by Washington State, Oregon, Oklahoma State, Louisiana Lafayette and Rutgers … Lists Tom Brady as his sports hero … Enjoys fishing, fly tying and golfing in his free time.
