2011 (Jr.): Six saves in 2011 are tied for the sixth most in a season in Nevada history ... finished the season going 2-1 with six saves and a 1.71 ERA ... allowed just four earned runs, struck out 23 batters and allowed just three extra base hits in 21 innings of work ... six saves and 17 games finished ranked sixth in the WAC ... saves came against UC Davis (3/8), Pacific (3/12), Washington (3/25), Utah Valley (4/1) and San Jose State (5/20 & 5/21) ... wins came in consecutive appearances versus Utah Valley (4/3) and San Francisco State (4/12) ... thrived in pressure situations as five of his six saves were one-run games and as were both of his victories ... earned first Nevada letter.

2010 (RS): Redshirted while recovering from an arm injury after transferring from the College of Southern Nevada.

Played two season for coach Tim Chambers at the College of Southern Nevada in Henderson, Nev...twice earned academic honors...freshman year in 2008 team went 44-16 and claimed the Scenic West Conference title along with the Region XVIII Championship...1-1 with two saves, a 8.66 ERA and 19 strikeouts pitching 17.2 innings in 14 appearances as a sophomore...freshman year was 2-0 with a save, a 1.84 ERA and 13 strikeouts in nine appearances tossing 14.2 innings.

High School
Earned four letters playing baseball for coach Jon Polson at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno and also lettered twice in football...second-team All-Sierra League his junior year playing shortstop and pitching...Player of the Year his senior season...first-team All-Sierra League defensive back and punter as a senior...academic athlete all four years of high schoool.

Health ecology major...born July 6, 1989...son of Kathy Herndon and Clay Gardner...likes to fish, sleep and listen to country music in his free time...chose Nevada over Oklahoma, Hawai`i and UNLV...career highlights are being named player of the year as a high school senior and winning Scenic West Conference title his freshman year at the College of Southern Nevada...sports heroes are Brett Favre and Derek Jeter.
