SAN DIEGO - For the second night in a row, San Diego State got the big hit late and sent Nevada to defeat. Saturday night, the Aztecs got a two-out, two-run, go-ahead double from Zane Kelly in a four-run eighth inning to comeback and beat the Wolf Pack, 8-5.

The Wolf Pack (23-20, 12-8 MW) will try to avert a sweep in Sunday's 1 p.m. finale.

Nevada took the lead on three occasions Saturday night but San Diego had an answer every time. On the final occasion, Jake Harvey put the Pack ahead by a run with a one-out double which plated Jackson Waller from first.

But San Diego State (29-18, 12-5 MW) broke through against Pack reliever Luke Schat in the eighth. Schat had been dominant since coming in for starter Ryan Oakes with one out in the sixth, setting down six of the first seven batters he faced, with five strikeouts.

But after striking out Max Ferrell to open the eighth, Schat gave up a triple to Adam Magpoc then walked Anthony Marnell IV. After getting the second out as Nate Lopez popped up a bunt, Schat handed the ball off to Andres Castro.

Kelly took a 2-2 pitch off the wall in right-center, scoring both runners to put San Diego State up 6-5. After an infield single from Dawson Santana, who then stole second, Jake Jackson made it 8-5 with a two-run single.

Schat took his first loss of the season, giving up two runs on just one hit over his 2.1 innings of relief. Aztec reliever Carson Johnson evened his record at 3-3, going the final two innings.

Four Wolf Pack batters had two hits apiece, while for San Diego State Kelly and Farrell each drove in two runs.

Oakes went 5.1 innings for Nevada, giving up four runs and striking out four, while San Diego State starter Drew Talavs lasted just 2.2 innings giving up four hits and walking two.
