FRESNO, Calif. - Lee Matsuzaki continued his tear since entering the Wolf Pack lineup full-time, hitting two solo homers in Friday's series-opening 7-4 win at Fresno State.

The second of Matsuzaki's homers led off the Nevada eighth, and spurred a four-run frame which turned a close one-run game into a five-run cushion for the Pack (9-6, 1-0 MW).

Jake Harvey added an RBI double with Rominic Quiban bringing in the eighth run with a sacrifice fly to boost the inning. It preserved Alessandro Castro's second win of the season, as the Nevada starter went five innings and struck out three while allowing three runs. Aidan Brainard struck out five and allowed just one run on four hits over the final four innings to pick up the save.

The first of Matsuzaki's solo homers followed Junhyuk Kwon's two-out, two-run shot in the first. The back-to-back blasts put the Pack up 3-0 and gave Castro an early advantage.

Fresno State (7-9, 0-1 MW) did come back to tie it up at 3-3 in the third as Griffin Sotomayor hit his second homer of the game. But Nevada responded with two in the fourth on Noah Blythe's RBI single and a run on a Bulldog throwing error to re-establish the lead at 5-3.

Matsuzaki and Harvey had two hits apiece for the Pack, while Jacob Doyle had a hit and scored twice.

Nevada gets its first chance at the series win Saturday as the teams face off at 3:05 p.m.
