RENO, Nev. – Nevada Athletics welcomes North Dakota State University Football and its passionate fanbase to the Mountain West, following Monday morning's announcement.
"NDSU Football is a tremendous addition to the Mountain West Conference," said Nevada Director of Athletics
Stephanie Rempe. "North Dakota State has been one of the most successful and respected programs in all of college football, and their arrival strengthens the competitive profile of our conference for years to come. For Nevada specifically, this moment aligns with the trajectory we've been building: strategic investment in our infrastructure, commitment to personnel excellence, unwavering focus on student‑athlete experience, and a modern approach to revenue, resources, and competitive sustainability. The future of Wolf Pack Athletics is strong, and our vision is clear. We are excited to compete against NDSU and to welcome Bison Nation to Nevada's College Town in the years ahead."
Winners of 10 FCS titles over the last 15 years, North Dakota State will join the Mountain West in football only beginning this fall. In that time, NDSU has gone 198-22 while most recently finishing in the top five of the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 and AFCA FCS Coaches Poll. Against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponents, the Bison have a 9-5 all-time record.
North Dakota State will play a full Mountain West schedule in 2026 as it begins its two-year transition process. The Bison will not be eligible for the MW Football Championship Game or postseason play, including the College Football Playoff or a bowl game, until 2028.
"We are excited to welcome such a storied program to the Mountain West. The Bison brand will help elevate our conference and allow all of us to Rise Together," said Nevada Football head coach Jeff Choate.
Nevada's upcoming season represents one built on investment, momentum, opportunity, and the shared pride of the Wolf Pack community. Athletics is a rising tide lifting our students, uniting our city and showcasing the very best of who we are. Our attitude is focused, spirited, and full of belief in what's possible because The Strength of the Wolf is the Pack.
