RENO, Nev. - UC Davis scored six times in the top of the fifth, overcoming a Nevada lead en route to a 12-6 defeat of the Wolf Pack Wednesday.

Nevada (17-11) and reliever Ryan Oakes were nearly out of the fifth, leading 5-3 until with two on and two out Alex Gouveia tied the game with a two-run double to left. Ryan Lee then lined the first pitch he saw to left to plate Gouveia to take a 6-5 lead. After Oakes hit Everet Johnson with a pitch, pinch-hitter Jason Hanson delivered the big blow, a three-run shot to right-center to give the Aggies (13-13) a 9-5 lead.

Jacob Doyle had helped give the Wolf Pack a 5-3 lead a frame earlier, hitting a two-run homer as part of a four-run fourth. After Doyle's homer tied it at 3-3, Junhyuk Kwon followed Nate Snakenborg's double with his RBI double, then came in with the fifth run for the Pack on Michael Ball's single.

But it was all UC Davis from there. Following the six-run fifth, the Aggies added three more in the sixth as Mark Wolbert and Ryan Lee had RBI doubles. Nevada got its final run of the day on a Billy Ham RBI single in the seventh, as Ham capped a 3-for-4, two-RBI day.

Oakes took his first loss of the year, charged with four runs on four hits in just one-third of an inning.

For UC Davis, reliever Mason Lerma pitched a scoreless fifth to earn the win out of six Aggie relievers on the day. Lerma led a group of five relievers which held the Wolf Pack to just three hits and a run over the final six innings.

Nevada travels to Las Vegas this weekend for a three-game series at UNLV beginning Friday at 6:05 p.m.
