RENO, Nev. - San José State broke open a one-run game with five runs over the final four innings, defeating Nevada, 10-5, in Friday night's series opener at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.
Nevada (19-14, 7-6 MW) had fought its way back from an early four-run hole to get within a run at 5-4 after a
Jayce Dobie solo homer and an RBI double from
Jake Harvey in the fourth. But San José State (19-15, 7-6 MW) opened the lead to 8-4 in the sixth behind Antonio Nanez's two-run double and a two-out, RBI triple from Neil Jansen.

Peyton Fosher got through just three innings Friday, giving up five runs on eight hits to fall to 2-4. RBI doubles from JC Osorio-Agard and Zach Tallerman helped the Spartans to a three-run second inning, and Jeriah Lewis had an RBI single in a two-run third.
Sean Yamaguchi hit a solo shot for Nevada's first run in the second, and added a second RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the third inning. Dobie and Harvey each had two hits to go with an RBI apiece.

Logan Saloman went the final six innings, striking out seven despite surrendering five runs.
San José State starter Kyle Calzadiaz only lasted 3.1 innings before giving way to Nolan George. George went the rest of the way, earning his third win while giving up four hits and an unearned run in the ninth.
The teams return to action Saturday at 2:05 p.m.
