FRESNO, Calif. – Nevada Softball wrapped up the Bulldog Classic with a pair of wins against Pacific, including a walk-off run-rule victory in game one.
Â
Pacific 3, Nevada 11 (6 Innings)
After Pacific scored a run in the first inning, the Pack responded with a five-run inning, starting with a
Matlyn Leetch leadoff walk.
Aaliyah Jenkins doubled down the right-field line to score Leetch.
Hannah Di Genova grounded out, allowing Jenkins to score after she stole third.
Â
Maya Larsen hit her first career home run, scoring
Tatum Maytorena in the process. To end the inning,
Madison Clark stole home in a double steal with
Haylee Engelbrecht.
Â
Haley Painter got back on track after losing her 16-game on-base streak yesterday. Painter hit a solo home run to give the Pack six runs. It was her tenth home run of the season.
Â
Another home run came in the third inning from Engelbrecht, scoring M. Clark in the process.
Â
Pacific got two more runs in the fourth inning off an RBI single and a botched play at third, allowing an unearned run to score.
Â
The Pack immediately got those runs back as Di Genova hit her first career triple, scoring Jenkins. Larsen then singled to score Di Genova, giving her a career-high three-RBI game.
Â
After going scoreless for the only time in the fifth inning, Painter singled to start the sixth. Di Genova doubled to score pinch-runner
Saige Alfaro, walking off the game in run-rule fashion.
Â
Jessica McPartland got the start and the win for Nevada, pitching four innings and striking out five.
Hailey McLean pitched two innings in relief, allowing only two hits and striking out three batters.
Â
Nevada 6, Pacific 3
Game two was more competitive, staying within two runs until the sixth inning.
Â
Leetch walked to start the game before advancing to third on a steal and a throwing error. Jenkins flied out to right, scoring Leetch.
Â
Pacific tied the game in the bottom half of the first with a single that scored a runner from second. The Tigers took the lead in the next inning with a two-run double.
Â
Nevada retook the lead in the top of the third thanks to three straight doubles. Jenkins hit the first double, scoring
Bailie Clark. Painter followed with double number two; however, Jenkins could not score on the play. She would, however, score off Di Genova's second double of the day, which drove in both Jenkins and Painter.
Â
The Pack got two insurance runs in the sixth via a pair of RBI singles. Engelbrecht picked up her third RBI of the day, scoring Alfaro. A
Lexi O'Gorman pinch-hit single finished the scoring for Nevada.
Â
Tess Bumiller tossed three great innings in relief, allowing just one hit after retiring the first six batters she faced, including four strikeouts.
Ainsley Berlingeri got her second start of the weekend, pitching four innings and striking out four while allowing five hits. Berlingeri got the win, finishing the weekend 2-0, while Bumiller earned her first save of the season.
Â
Six different Wolf Pack batters had multi-hit games, including four-hit performances from Engelbrecht, Jenkins, and Painter. Jenkins hit three doubles in six at-bats with three RBIs.
