RENO, Nev. - Nevada Football announced the addition of five more signees on Wednesday's opening day of the February signing period, a quintet which included Northern Nevada standouts
Colson Kermode (Galena HS) and
Tommy Williams (Incline HS).
Along with Kermode and Williams, Wolf Pack head coach Jeff Choate signed defensive lineman
Jason Hemphill II out of Cypress Woods High School in Texas, and a pair of running backs from California in
Dorian Hoze (Murrieta Valley HS) and
Dominic Kelley (De La Salle HS).
The group joins the 25 prep standouts and one junior college addition who signed at the opening of the December period.
"We added a couple of really, really talented local athletes in
Tommy Williams and
Colson Kermode; we're excited about what those guys are going to bring to the table. Not just their athleticism and playmaking ability but also their leadership and the type of students that they are," Choate said. "We addressed some issues at running back and created a lot of competition and depth between
Dorian Hoze and
Dominic Kelley, two really, really talented California backs one from Northern California power De La Salle and another who was a tremendous player in the Central Valley at Murrieta Valley. Last but not least we got a big anchor in the middle of our defense in
Jason Hemphill II, and I think he's going to do a great job of creating competition in there but also being an anchor of our d-line for years to come."
The local flair of this class increased with the addition of Kermode and Williams. The Wolf Pack signees represent championship-level programs at various levels in Northern Nevada—Bishop Manogue (two), Galena, Incline, Reed, Spring Creek, and Truckee are all represented in this class.
