CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Nevada Softball finished up the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 5-3 win over CSUN, ending the weekend 3-2.

Nevada pitched a staff game in Saturday's victory with three pitchers throwing at least an inning. Ainsley Berlingeri got the start for Nevada, pitching three innings and allowing two runs on five hits. Bumiller replaced Berlingeri in the fourth inning, going 2.2 innings and picking up the win, her second of the season. Hailey McLean finished the game and recorded her second career save. McLean faced five batters, retiring four of them without allowing any hits or walks.

CSUN got the scoring going in the top of the first with a lead-off single being moved into scoring position by a sacrifice bunt and scored via a single to center field.

Nevada got the run back in the bottom of the first with Haylee Engelbrecht's eighth hit of the weekend scoring Madison Clark from second. CSUN reclaimed the lead in the third inning with an RBI double down the left-field line.

In the bottom half of the inning, Bailie Clark singled, and Aaliyah Jenkins walked to lead off the inning. Haley Painter hit her third home run of the weekend to center field to give Nevada a 4-2 lead. The homer was Painter's seventh of the season and moved her into a tie for the fourth most home runs in Nevada history with 28.

Engelbrecht singled following Painter's home run, tallying a team-leading nine hits for the weekend. Engelbrecht's weekend ended slashing .563/.563/1.000 while hitting a double and her first two home runs of the season, along with four RBI.

The Wolf Pack added one more run in the fourth inning with a B. Clark sacrifice fly to score Saige Alfaro. Alfaro finished the day three-for-three with a pair of doubles and a spectacular catch leaning over the left field fence in foul territory.

A bases-loaded fielder's choice in the fifth scored CSUN's third run, but 2.2 hitless innings of pitching from Nevada wrapped up the game. CSUN finished the game with eight hits to Nevada's seven, the first time the Pack has been outhit in a win this season.

Nevada's 11-4 start to the season matches last season's record through 15 games. The Wolf Pack are back in California next weekend with three games in Sacramento and two in Davis. Nevada opens the weekend on Friday at 12 p.m. against Santa Clara. The Pack will take on Sacramento State twice, on Friday and Saturday. The Capital Classic will end on Sunday with another neutral site against Santa Clara before an away game at UC Davis.
