Nevada struggled through the opening minutes of the first quarter as shots wouldn't fall and UNLV went on a 9-0 run. The Pack got their first points of the game with a three by
Lexie Givens.Â
It was the spark the Pack needed as they went 4-4 for the next few minutes following the splash by Givens, cutting the lead to one with just over three and a half left in the first.Â
The Pack kept it close through the remainder of the opening quarter, trailing 16-13 into the second.Â
Quarter two started much like the first as Nevada struggled to get shots to fall. Defensively, the Pack didn't allow as many points to start, only letting the Lady Rebels get down two shots through the first three and a half minutes.Â
Imbie Jones finally got one in for the Pack with a turnaround jumper. Nevada went through a scoring drought before
Izzy Sullivan and
Dymonique Maxie had back-to-back baskets.
At the break, Nevada had work to do as they were down, 32-19.
The second half, shooting struggles continued for the Pack. Despite UNLV building the lead to over 20 in the third quarter, Nevada cut it back to 14 before heading into the final 10, 47-33.
Despite being even in the fourth quarter, scoring 17 points to UNLV's 17, Nevada wasn't able to build on it more, dropping the home game.Â
Givens led the Pack in scoring with 12, followed by Maxie with 11. Maxie led in rebounding with five boards.
Nevada will go on the road to face San Diego State on February 19 at 11 AM.Â
