Givens records double-double as Nevada holds off Air Force

Box Score AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Nevada women's basketball closed out its two-game road trip by taking on Air Force, holding off the Falcons for a 58-55 victory.

Lexie Givens recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Victoria Davis came off the bench to also drop 15 points, while grabbing six boards.

The Falcons got on the board first, but Imbie Jones tied it up on the other end for the Pack. Nevada struggled to keep control of the ball to start the first quarter, but was able to settle down and add more points with a layup by Olivia Poulivaati.

Nevada was playing from behind as Air Force created a little space with a seven-point lead. Layups by Rakiyah Jackson and Victoria Davis brought Nevada back within three. After an answer by the Falcons, the Pack was trailing, 15-10, heading into the next quarter.

At the start of the second quarter, Davis hit back-to-back threes to give the Pack their first lead of the game. The Falcons answered with a layup before Lexie Givens put the Pack back in front with the team's third consecutive three.

The Pack began to take control with an 11-point lead after a run of just as many unanswered points. The defense of Nevada didn't allow Air Force to score again until just over a minute left in the half.

After out-scoring the Falcons in the second quarter, 20-10, the Pack took a 30-25 advantage into the break.

Nevada didn't give up the lead for the entire third quarter, going up by as much as 10 points. With three and a half minutes left, the Falcons cut the lead to three, but the Pack built it back up to take a 43-35 lead into the final 10.

For the majority of the fourth, Nevada held at least a three-point advantage. With just under two minutes remaining, Air Force cut it to one and took its first lead since the second quarter in the next possession.

With 27 seconds remaining, Audrey Roden hit the go-ahead jumper. Givens followed it up with two made three throws to close out the game and claim the win for the Pack.

Nevada will return home to play San Diego State on Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
