Women's basketball sets attendance record in loss to Fresno State

Box Score RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball broke the program attendance record on Wednesday as they hosted Fresno State, falling to the Bulldogs, 65-59.

Lawlor Events Center was a packed house as 10,689 fans were welcomed into the annual When I Grow Up game. The previous record was 7,815, which was set against UConn in 2017

Audrey Roden reached another milestone as she is now tied ninth all-time in steals with 144. Imbie Jones led the Pack with a career high 16 points, while Lexie Givens led in rebounding with eight. Izzy Sullivan had 14 points, followed by Victoria Davis with 12.

Jones was putting in work early as she scored both opening baskets of the game, followed by Sullivan with a jumper to give Nevada a 6-0 run. Defensively, the Pack held the Bulldogs scoreless through the first three minutes of the opening quarter.

Nevada began to slow up late in the first as Fresno State tied the game twice. With four seconds left, Sullivan was fouled from beyond the arc. At the line, she knocked down all three baskets. Heading into the second, Nevada was holding a close lead, 19-16.

Despite Fresno State coming within one midway through the second, Nevada remained on top. The Pack built the score back up to see their largest lead of the half of eight.

Into the break, Nevada was leading Fresno State, 33-29.

After holding off the Bulldogs for over half of the game, the Pack found themselves down for the first time with three and a half left to go in the third quarter. Fresno State's advantage didn't last long as a jumper by Olivia Poulivaati put Nevada back in front.

Her basket was the start of a 6-0 run to close out the quarter as Givens added four points to give the Pack a 48-44 lead heading into the final 10.

The fourth quarter was a battle as each team fought for the lead. There were two ties and three lead changes, but the Wolf Pack ultimately came up short to the Bulldogs.

Nevada will go on the road to face rival UNLV on Saturday, with tip set for 2 PM.
