RENO, Nev. -Â Nevada Women's Basketball has made its second signing of the week, inking guard Ahrray Young (Elk Grove, Calif. / Tulsa), head coach
Amanda Levens announced Friday.
Young, a 5-11 guard, spent the past two seasons at Tulsa, where she averaged 9.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.08 assists, while shooting 51.1 percent from the field over 37 career games. Overall, she scored in double figures 18 times and notched two double-doubles.
"Ahrray is a long, athletic wing who will bring both scoring and rebounding to our perimeter group," said Levens. "She is a great addition to our program and we are excited to have her Strengthen our Pack."
The Elk Grove, Calif., native was named to the AAC All-Freshman Team and nabbed two conference Freshman of the Week honors in 2022-23. Before missing the final 10 games of the season due to injury, Young averaged 8.6 points and 5.0 rebounds a game, shot 52.2 percent from the field, made 30 steals, and scored in double figures nine times.
Despite her injury keeping her out of action through the first three games of her sophomore campaign, Young quickly returned to form. She started 12 of 16 contests, posting nine games scoring in double figures and averaging 9.8 points and 4.1 rebounds before suffering a second season-ending injury in late January.
As a prep at Laguna Creek High School, Young averaged 14.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.5 steals as a sophomore. She only played in two contests as a junior due to the coronavirus pandemic. A two-time league MVP, Young helped Laguna Creek to an 80-10 record during her career.
Young is the fourth addition to the Wolf Pack's 2024-25 roster, and third from the West Coast. She joins fellow transfers Imbie Jones (Seattle, Wash. / Wisconsin / Garfield HS), Amelia Raidaveta (Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia / Weber State), and November prep signee Kendra Hicks (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit HS).
Nevada women's basketball will begin its offseason preparation and host various summer activities for the Northern Nevada community. The team's annual golf outing fundraiser will take place Friday, June 21 at Wolf Run Golf Club. Nevada will also host three summer camps: Team Camp (June 22-23), Overnight Camp (July 23-25) and Elite Camp (August 2). More information can be found on NevadaWolfPack.com.
