Reno, Nev. - Don Weir Field at Peccole Park

WP: Eddie Tierney (3-1)
LP: Ryan Martinez (1-5)

RENO, Nev. - Nevada walked it off for the fourth time this season, as Bryce Matthews' single through the right side with one out in the ninth scored JR Freethy with the winning run in the 9-8 win Tuesday at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.

Pacific (10-42) scored four times with two away in the top of the ninth to tie it up. JT Shank hit a two-run homer off of Ian Hughes to make it a two-run game, then, with two on and Eddie Tierney on in relief, Tony Otis doubled off the wall in center to tie it up.

Freethy walked to open the Wolf Pack ninth, and two batters later Jackson Waller singled to right-center, moving Freethy to third. Matthews slapped Tiger reliever Ryan Martinez's second pitch past a diving Jake Tandy at first, giving the Pack its fourth walk-off win of the season.

The hit capped a big night for Matthews, who went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a solo homer. Nolan Wilson also had three hits, while Jesse Pierce added a solo shot in a 2-for-4, two-RBI game.

Nevada starter Easton Marks went a solid five innings, allowing just two runs on three hits and striking out three, but the ninth-inning Pacific rally robbed him of a third win.

Pierce's two-run shot in the bottom of the second capped a three-run Nevada frame, giving the Wolf Pack an early 3-0 lead. A Pacific error in the third led to a run scoring on Waller's grounder, and Wilson lining an RBI single to make it 5-2.

Matthews hit a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh, putting the Pack up 8-3.

Pacific got a run in the eighth off of Zach Garber, before its four-run rally in the ninth.

Nevada (23-25) closes the regular season this Thurgsday-Saturday, hosting San Diego State. The Pack is in a logjam of five teams playing for the four spots at May 23-26's Mountain West Championship in this weekend's action.
