RENO, Nev. – Pack dominates in series opener against San José, with Aaliyah Jenkins driving in four of the Pack's nine runs.
 
San José started the game with a leadoff single, then Carley Brown retired the following three batters to hold the Spartans scoreless.
 
The Pack put up its first run in the second with a Maile Olsen double through the left side, scoring Aaliyah Jenkins. Jenkins reached base on a double to left center.
 
The Pack had an explosive third and fourth inning, adding the remaining eight runs of the game.
 
Gabby Herrera homered over the center field wall, her fourteenth of the season, putting the Pack up 2-0. A. Jenkins followed with her ninth of the season in the form of a two-run shot scoring T. Jenkins, Pack up 4-0.
 
The Pack's five-run fourth inning started with two back-to-back singles from Chelie Senini and Bailie Clark. Haley Painter came to the plate delivering an RBI double scoring B. Clark, extending the lead, 5-0. Matlyn Leetch came in to pinch run for Painter. Bridgette Gilliano recorded a sacrifice fly scoring Senini. Herrera knocked the third single of the inning scoring Leetch and putting the Pack up by seven. A. Jenkins crushed her second two-run home run of the game in back-to-back innings, putting a stamp on the Pack's final runs of the game, heading to the fifth, 9-0.
 
The Spartans added their first and only run of the game in the top of the fifth with an RBI single. Pack end the game in the fifth courtesy of run-rule, 9-1.
 
Carley Brown pitched a complete five-inning game, striking out five, giving up no walks. Brown allowed one run on four hits facing eighteen batters.
 
Notables:
  • Gabby Herrera's home run gives her sole possession of the second most home runs in a single Nevada season (14), one behind Erika Hansen's 15 in 2018.
  • Herrera's two RBI give her the eighth most RBI in a Nevada single-season (49)
  • Herrera tallied five bases, giving her the fourth most total bases in a single season.
  • Chelie Senini gains sole possession of the 23rd most stolen bases in NCAA DI history (157), surpassing Arizona's Caitlin Lowe.
  • Senini tied Sam Bias for the fourth most at-bats in Nevada history.
  • Senini's 43rd run of the season ties her for the eight most in a single season
  • Aaliyah Jenkins tied Brittany Puzey for the second most home runs in a Nevada career (34), Jenkins is three home runs away from tying Megan Sweet for the record
  • A. Jenkins recorded three extra base hits in a game for the first time in her collegiate career.
  • Across her last two games against the Spartans, A. Jenkins is 4-7 with eight RBI, three homers, a double, and four runs scored.
  • Carley Brown pitched her seventh complete game of the season and 20th of her career. Today was her third complete game outing of the season without walking a batter.
  • After meeting the minimum requirements of 40 games played and 100 at bats, three Nevada batters place on the single-season batting average list:
    • Herrera: .450 (1st)
    • Senini: .393 (T-7th)
    • T. Jenkins: .383 (10th)
  • Nevada's 31st win of the season replicates last season's total and ties for sixth all-time
  • The Wolf Pack's season run total is 289, the fifth most in Nevada history.
  • Nevada's 75th double of the season ties for the 9th most in Wolf Pack history.

The Pack round out the San José State series, tomorrow, Sunday, April 7 with first pitch set for 12 p.m. where the Pack will celebrate youth day. First 150 youth fans will receive a Wolf Pack fanny pack followed with kids run the bases and autographs post-game.
