LAS VEGAS - For the second day in a row, Nevada fell into an early hole, and this time it cost them the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union weekend against UNLV. Despite late fireworks, Nevada's comeback came up short in a 10-7 loss in Las Vegas.

Sunday's contest followed Saturday's script pretty closely. The Wolf Pack (16-20, 10-10 MW) jumped ahead in the top of the first, this time on a two-run homer from Michael Ball, but could not get a shutdown inning in the bottom half. This time, starter Easton Marks issued five walks, a hit batsmen, and two hits as the Rebels scored six times to take a 6-2 lead.

UNLV (21-18, 9-12 MW) added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 9-2 lead, while reliever Joey Acosta came on for starter Lane with one out in the third, and went three innings of scoreless relief with five strikeouts to earn his second win.

Nevada closed to within two with five runs in the seventh inning. Josh Catacutan delivered a two-run double into the left-field corner, then Derek Tenney smacked a two-run homer off of Rebel reliever Albert Roblez to make it 9-7.

Marks fell to 2-4 with the loss, giving up six earned runs over just two-thirds of an inning. Eddie Tierney continued his strong week with 3.1 innings of hitless relief, striking out four Rebels and keeping Nevada within striking distance.

Catacutan went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to pace Nevada, while Tenney and Ball each drove in a pair with their respective homers.

The Pack heads to St. George, Utah, for a Monday non-conference contest at Utah Tech, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. PT.
