SAN FRANCISCO - Nevada ace Jason Doktorczyk was even better in his second start of the young campaign, allowing just a run on two hits over seven innings in Friday's 5-1 win at San Francisco.
The Wolf Pack (3-1) never trailed Friday, as Nolan Wilson's two-out, two-run homer in the third gave Nevada a lead it would never relinquish.
Michael Campagna managed the only run of the game for the Dons (3-2) in the bottom half, leading off with a solo shot down the line in left.
But Doktorczyk was nails from there, retiring the next 15 San Francisco batters in a row and improving to 2-0 on the year. The Pack bats provided him cushion in the fourth, loading the bases on singles from Derek Tenney and Michael Ball and a walk from Jake Harvey before Jesse Pierce's two-run double to right. JR Freethy followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 5-1 game.
Casey Burfield took over in the eighth and closed the book on things with two scoreless innings of relief. After inducing an inning-ending double-play ball from Campagna in the eighth, Burfield worked his way out of a bases-loaded jam by getting Zack Ramppen to fly out to left for the final out.
Pierce and Ball led the Pack offense with three hits apiece, Pierce driving in two runs. Freethy and Tenney each went 2-for-4, Freethy adding a double to his sacrifice fly.
San Francisco starter Adam Shew dropped to 1-1 on the season, giving up all five Pack runs on eight hits.
Nevada will got for the series win Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
